Kanuga Core Values: Respect

This year, Kanuga revealed a formal set of Core Values. We implemented four basic tenets designed to honor our past and guide our future. Respect is one of our Core Values. At Kanuga, we honor the image of God in every person and offer radical hospitality to all guests while striving for a work environment that supports staff with living wages and quality benefits.

The Embodiment of Kanuga’s Hospitality

From providing new accommodations that are easily enjoyed by all to extending gracious hospitality to our guests daily, we delight in being true to our core value of respect.

Our recent renovation of Kanuga Lake Inn serves as a living example of our radical hospitality. The renovation efforts resulted in improved accessibility for those with mobility issues and the addition of handicap accessible guest rooms.

Overall, we take great strides in making guests feel welcome and at home, as recognized in recent comments from those visiting this sacred place:

Making Strides Toward a Living Wage

Last year, we made a determined effort to examine our wages. Our goal is to provide a living wage to all of our employees. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the assistance of the Board of Directors for Kanuga Conferences and Kanuga Endowment, we set a record with our Annual Fund.

Because of these gifts, we were able to give raises to our housekeeping, maintenance, and general staff. With continued, increased giving to our Annual Fund, we plan to continue our goal of providing a living wage for all of our employees.
