Expeditions Staff

Camp Kanuga Expeditions staff is carefully selected to make sure you have someone you can trust in the backcountry. These professional adult leaders go through an extensive training program that emphasizes techniques for team building and assisting in personal development, including technical skills and safety procedures. Two counselors (one male and one female) accompany each group of 12–13 Expedition campers.

We look for leaders who have:
  • Previous trail experience
  • Knowledge of wilderness medical procedures
  • Good judgment, patience and strength of character

Staff members typically are college graduates or college seniors, many of whom have experience with Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School, both considered excellent preparation for persons working with young people in outdoor programs.

The Camp Kanuga Expeditions staff is a dedicated team that is excited to work with teenagers (ages 12–17) and gain practical experience in the field. We expect our staff to be fun, enthusiastic, capable, compassionate, experienced, faithful and flexible while living in our small community. Expeditions staff members receive a weekly salary, room and board.
