Kanuga kicks off the 2023 Music in the Pines series this spring with a group described by The Sacramento Bee as, “a pastiche of world, jazz and classical music.” The Kanuga performance will feature Free Planet Radio with percussionist River Guerguerian and Chris Rosser, a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, composer and producer. They will be joined by Kanuga’s Musician in Residence, Simon de Voil, Scottish sacred musician.

Spring Equinox is the official start of the spring season and the welcoming of lighter days. We hope you’ll come enjoy connecting with each other, nature, and the Creator through this musical gathering “in the pines.”

Guests are encouraged to arrive early for a wooded walk around Kanuga Lake or a hike. Certified service animals are welcome.

As a sacred musician, spiritual mentor and worship leader, Reverend Simon Ruth de Voil incorporates chant, ritual, poetry, storytelling, and mindful practice to create spaces for profound connection, healing, meditation, and sacred witness. Although influenced by many traditions, Simon’s spiritual path and teaching is deeply rooted in Celtic Christianity, the wisdom of the earth, and in the Scottish land where he’s spent most of his life. Simon’s program at Kanuga will also draw from the 15 years of study, training, and practice gained from his time living and working in Iona Abbey, Scotland.

David Wilcox brings his music to the beauty of Kanuga for what we think is a perfect combination of creation and spirit. Join us in our unique listening room set in our beautiful chapel on 1,400 acres of beauty. Ticket holders are invited to make a day of their visit to Kanuga by hiking the property, bring a picnic for lunch or rock in the rocking chairs of our porch overlooking the lake. Kanuga’s listening room is the perfect container for listening to the stories that David shares through his music, those stories of connection reminding us that we do not walk alone in this journey. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for a wooded walk around Kanuga Lake or a hike. Certified service animals are welcome.
