Christmas is a season of giving—surprising those we hold dear with expressions of love and carefully chosen gifts designed to bring delight through the New Year. As the year comes to a close, now is the perfect time to include Kanuga in your holiday giving. Gifts to our Annual Fund ensure we are able to face the New Year with confidence and dream of a brighter future for Kanuga.
“The annual fund is in many ways the lifeblood of Kanuga,” said Jim Hackney, Executive Vice President for Advancement at Kanuga. “It supports the many projects we do day in and day out.”
To make giving easier, this fall Kanuga introduced Annual Fund Giving Tiers. The newly revealed clubs and circles are unique additions to our regular Honor Roll of Donors, and are a special way to thank and recognize gifts. They include:
Kanuga Toast Club $100 – $499
Pines Upon the Mountain Club $500 – $999
Rocking Chair Circle $1000 – $2,499
Kanuga Lake Circle $2,500 – $4,999
Wolf Mountain Circle $5,000 – $9,999
Founders Circle $10,000 +
The new giving tiers allow Kanuga to acknowledge a broader level of giving. “We are grateful for gifts of every size, but we also really want to recognize those who make leadership gifts,” said Jim.
Currently, Kanuga’s Annual Fund comprises 8.5% of the operating budget, but the goal is to grow to 10% or more. “This would allow us to move towards a living wage for our employees and maintain our buildings,” said Jim. “Annual Fund giving is critical for us to care for over 150 buildings, hundreds of acres of woods and lakes, cottages, and camps.”
Kanuga’s Annual Fund goal for 2019 is $806,000. “We still have a ways to go, but we are grateful for the progress,” says Jim. “We hope people will consider giving before the end of the year.”
Giving options for Kanuga’s Annual Fund include gifts by credit card or check and gifts of stocks. (For tax deductions for 2019, checks must be mailed and postmarked by December 31.) Online giving is available on our website. For more giving options, contact Jim at 828-233-2816 or via email.
