Kanuga is pleased to share that a grant from Trinity Church will make possible a new program: Kanuga Leadership Residency.

The project grant of $370,000 will fund the creation of a hybrid leadership training program for clergy and lay leaders. The curriculum will advance The Episcopal Church’s mission to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.

The first cycle of the two-year residency will consist of four sections, each of which will include an in-person gathering at Kanuga with ongoing individual and collaborative small group work. Potential areas of emphasis include: servant/pastoral leadership; crafting mission/vision/purpose; core values and why statement; program administration; program design and implementation; financial management and budgeting; responding to national events; philanthropy; and marketing, positioning, and branding.

Kanuga President and CEO Michael Sullivan said, “This will be a transformational two-year residency program. Unlike those that focus exclusively on entrepreneurial practices, our model will include leadership skills as well as spiritual formation. This combination will invite participants to test new approaches to mission, as well as to ask questions of what such practices mean for the individual and the Church. We are committed to gathering a diverse community of people in this critical work and appreciate the support of Trinity Church in assisting us.”

Kanuga is an Episcopal retreat center located in the mountains of western North Carolina. Its mission is to serve as a gathering place for all people to connect with each other, nature, and the Creator. Kanuga.org
