It is with deep appreciation and sadness that we announce the retirement of one of our most cherished team members, Kate Bakko, after an incredible 22+ years of dedicated service.

Kate has been more than just a colleague—she has been a living extension of our mission, a trusted mentor to many, and a warm, familiar face that guests and staff alike have come to love. Kate’s kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting mark on all of us, and it’s impossible to measure the impact she has had on the Kanuga community.

Over the years, Kate has exemplified what it means to represent and radiate “radical hospitality”—whether in greeting guests with a smile that brightened their day, lending a helping hand to a colleague, or tackling challenges with grace and professionalism. Kate truly embodies the heart and soul of our team.

While we will miss seeing Kate (and her loving canine companion, Finn!) on campus, we are excited for their next chapter, and we know Kate will embrace retirement with the same enthusiasm and passion that defined her career.
