The Centennial Campaign: Building the Next 100 Years

A century of faithful stewardship. A future of renewed welcome.

For nearly 100 years, Kanuga has been a sacred place where people come together—to deepen faith, find rest, build friendships, experience the beauty of creation, and return home renewed.

As we approach Kanuga’s centennial, we have an extraordinary opportunity: to care for what generations before us entrusted to Kanuga while preparing this beloved place to welcome generations we have yet to meet.

The Centennial Campaign is an investment in Kanuga’s future. Through thoughtful improvements to our cottages and guest houses, essential infrastructure, and the renewal of the Chapel of the Transfiguration, we are strengthening the places and systems that make Kanuga possible. Together, we are building the next 100 years of Kanuga.

CAMPAIGN PROJECTS

Guest House A

Cottage and Guest House Renovations

Renewing the places where generations have gathered.

For many people, Kanuga memories begin in a cottage or guest house: coffee on the porch, conversations around the table, children running between neighboring cottages, and evenings spent together after a full Kanuga day.

Renovating these beloved spaces allows us to preserve their distinctive character while providing the comfort, accessibility, and hospitality today’s guests need.

These investments will help ensure that longtime Kanuga families—and those discovering Kanuga for the first time—feel at home here.

Chapel

Preserving the Chapel

The Chapel of the Transfiguration is the spiritual heart of Kanuga. Built in 1939 from timber harvested at Kanuga, the chapel is in need of repairs to the foundation. While a long-term solution may involve relocating the chapel to fully mitigate the effects of an underground spring, our immediate plan is to repair the foundation and replace the siding to ensure the Chapel remains a vital space for spiritual gatherings at Kanuga.

Dam

Infrastructure Improvements

Caring for what makes Kanuga possible.

Some of the most important investments in Kanuga’s future are the ones guests may never see.

The Centennial Campaign includes significant improvements to the infrastructure that supports the entire campus, including:

  • Dam renovation
  • Lodge boiler and HVAC improvements
  • Sewer line improvements

These projects protect Kanuga’s buildings, natural resources, and daily operations while creating greater resilience for the decades ahead.

Why Now?

A centennial is more than a milestone. It is an invitation to look both backward and forward.

We honor the generations whose generosity built and sustained Kanuga by accepting the responsibility to care for it today. The investments we make now will shape what Kanuga can offer families, retreatants, campers, conference guests, clergy, young people, and seekers well beyond our lifetime.

This is our moment to prepare Kanuga for its second century.

Make Room for Kanuga's Next Century

The Centennial Campaign is about more than buildings.

It is about preserving a place where faith makes room.
Where friendships take root.
Where families return generation after generation.
Where people find rest, wonder, belonging, and God.

Every gift to the Centennial Campaign is an investment in the people who will experience Kanuga in the years ahead.

Together, we can carry forward what generations before us began—and make room for all who will come next.
