Nourishing outstanding teenage campers to become leaders

We offer two programs focused on cultivating the leadership potential of outstanding older campers. Through hands-on service, outdoor and educational experiences, these campers return home confident and motivated.

Stepping Up

Ages 13–14

Stepping Up empowers early teens to develop and achieve goals for their future. This two-week session combines outdoor and adventure activities with field trips that serve to expand the campers’ perspectives of the world as they prepare for the next chapters of life.

Some past highlights include projects with local businesses and organizations, a campout weekend on Kanuga’s 1,400 acres, college visits and learning life skills for campers to apply at home, school and in their community.

Leaders in Camp

Ages 15–17

Campers build confidence in their leadership abilities as they learn the skills necessary to be a Camp Bob counselor. Leaders in camp go through a one-week training session covering the basics of managing a cabin full of campers and leading camp activities.

The following week, these leaders are assigned to a cabin where they put their training into practice. They receive an evaluation at the end of the session.
