Mountain Trail Outdoor School
Kanuga’s Mountain Trail Outdoor School hires instructors for the fall, winter and spring. MTOS offers day, multi-day or weeklong programs to school groups, youth groups, clubs, businesses and other organizations. With customized curriculums to meet the goals of each group, instructors lead natural science study, community building activities and opportunities for participants to increase their self-confidence through adventure based activities.

Kanuga Conferences, Inc. is devoted to building up the next generation of service leaders as they are vital to our community and our future. Consequently, we have created the Resident Apprentice Program designed to engage young adults into our rich history and business practices. The program gives young adults an opportunity to develop skills and habits that lead to personal and professional success. This is achieved through hands-on work experience, learning and development workshops, and job shadowing within a supportive community setting. The ideal apprentice is eager to learn, hardworking, community minded and flexible. Candidates with strong references and experience working within their community will be strongly considered.

The Retail Associate at Kanuga is responsible for ensuring our guests have a positive shopping experience. The Associate must actively strive to create a customer-focused shopping environment. The Associate greets and responds to all customers in a friendly manner, ensures proper merchandise presentation, operates the cash register in accordance with policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times. Kanuga has multiple retail location on campus and the Associate may be scheduled at any one, depending on the need. Weekend and holiday work required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. or more. Camp Kanuga is a traditional Christian summer camp for boys and girls ages 7–17. Activities include backpacking, hiking, canoeing, swimming, adventure course, climbing tower, rock climbing, creative dramatics, art, music and much more! Counselors must be 18 years old and Junior Counselors must be 17. Experience working with children and in the outdoors preferred. Salary, room and board and bonus upon completion.

Counselors must be 19 or older with some experience. Trip Leaders must be 20 or older with experience leading extended backpacking trips and certified WFR or above.

Camp Bob is looking for positive role models who have a strong desire to work with a diverse population of children in the outdoors. The summer begins with two weeks of staff training, followed by 10 weeks of fast-paced camping sessions. Positions are available for counselors, head counselors, nurses and a community coordinator.
Conference Center Summer Staff
Every summer, Kanuga hires temporary staff to fulfill a wide variety of job opportunities at the conference center. It is possible to work from May through September, but most positions begin mid-June and run through mid-August. Staff members are housed in separate men’s and women’s dormitories and receive room and board as part of their pay.
The Conference Center Summer Staff Department is seeking leadership positions in the following areas:
The Nursery Director will supervise and train a staff of at least three assistants; prepare a safe environment for infants and toddlers; keep the nursery clean and well stocked with the necessary supplies; and be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for infants and toddlers, which enhances the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of children.
Youth Program Director
The Youth Program Director will develop and direct programs for youth that emphasize team building, group dynamics and exploration of our natural world through such activities as day hikes and cooperation games. They are responsible for supporting the permanent, on-site Director with the leadership of camp. The Youth Program Director will perform daily camp administrative tasks such as creating weekly staff and camper schedules and maintaining the daily flow of camp logistics. They will implement all established camp policies and procedures to ensure the health and welfare of campers and report any concerns to the on-site Director. Experience in rock climbing skills will enhance applications. Psychology or education majors are encouraged to apply.
Arts & Crafts Director
The Arts & Crafts Director is responsible for planning and leading the Arts & Crafts program during camp sessions. They will organize and lead the Arts & Crafts program for ages 3–18, including tie-dying, painting, set building, take-home crafts, etc. The director is expected to help in the general program for the children, as well as facilitate tie-dying for all youth programs and adult tie-dye. Experience in arts & crafts is a must. Elementary education and art majors are encouraged to apply.
Creative Dramatics Director
The Creative Dramatics Director is responsible for producing and directing Friday night’s Kanuga Follies during Summer Guest Period; working with all age groups; and assisting with props, costumes, music, etc. Theater and drama majors are encouraged to apply. Interns welcome.
