- Surviving and Thriving During Times of Disaster, led by the Rev. Dr. Michael Melon of Spartanburg, S.C. He has served as a missionary and church planter in locations across the globe. In August 2005, he was rector of a New Orleans inner-city church when Hurricane Katrina hit, destroying his family's possessions.
- Listening to God for Better Prayer, led by Mary Zahl, who trained under Canon Anne Long of the Acorn Christian Healing Trust in England. The author of Listening, Long has trained clergy and lay people all over the world to incorporate listening to God, ourselves and others in order to help us become Christ's ears to the world. Zahl has taught these principles to church groups for the last 15 years and used them in her own prayer life.
- Jerusalem Outreach: Home First, Then the World, led by the Revs. Dallas and Janie Wilson, a husband and wife team whose ministries involve disadvantaged inner-city residents, particularly families with incarcerated fathers. He is vicar of St. John’s in Charleston, S.C. She is executive director of the African-American Family Center for Biblical Dialogue.
Paul Zahl
Internationally known author, theologian and preacher the Rev. Dr. theol. Paul F. M. Zahl will keynote Kanuga's 2008 Renewal Conference.
Based on his recent book Grace in Practice: A Theology of Everyday Life, his presentation will "attempt to bring the gospel of law and grace into direct encounter with the real and tangible stress of living a life within the swooning, human world," Zahl said.
His presentations will begin with a basis in theology then discuss how an understanding of grace can transform relationships, including romantic relationships, relationships with children and relationships with everybody.
About the keynoter
Dr. Zahl returned to parish ministry in December, accepting the call to serve as rector of All Saints Church in Chevy Chase, Md.
For the past three years, he was the fifth dean and president of Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Previously, he served for nine years as dean of the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Ala., and was the rector of parishes in Charleston, S.C., and Scarborough, N.Y.
Having earned a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Harvard, Zahl completed graduate studies at St. John’s College in Nottingham, England; the University of Nottingham; Trinity College in Bristol, England; Wycliffe Hall in Oxford, England; and the University of Tübingen in Germany, where he received a doctorate in systematic theology magna cum laude in 1994.
Zahl has authored several books, most recently, Grace in Practice: A Theology of Everyday Life, published in 2007.
Others include A Short Systematic Theology; The First Christian: Universal Truth in the Teachings of Jesus; Five Women of the English Reformation; The Protestant Face of Anglicanism; and Who Will Deliver Us? The Present Power in the Death of Christ.

Carol and York Feitel
COORDINATORS: York and Carol Feitel of Spartanburg, S.C., have attended Kanuga's Renewal Conference regularly for more than 14 years. They are active members of St. Christopher's in Spartanburg, both having served as senior warden.
CHAPLAIN: The Very Rev. James Munroe is dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Springfield, Mass. A Vietnam veteran with more than 30 years' experience as a parish priest, he served as a curate for four years with Paul Zahl at Grace Church in New York while C. FitzSimons Allison was the rector. In recent years he has spent time in Israel/Palestine, involved in reconciliation efforts.

MUSICIANS: The Praise Band from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Summerville, S.C., led by Nowell Copley
YOUTH LEADER: Susan Blackburn has been involved in leadership for children, youth and music ministry since 1992. She currently leads a youth group at Faith Anglican Church in Memphis, Tenn., and is a member of the choir and worship team. Her 16-year-old daughter Sarah will assist her in leading the youth program at this year's Renewal Conference.
