Bethany Frazier
Youth Events Program Director
Bethany Frazier loves helping young people and youth leaders build community in a safe, fun environment. She is responsible for organizing Youth Week, Winterlight and off-season rentals of Camp Kanuga and the Bob Campbell Youth Campus. Before joining the Kanuga staff in 2009, she served as the director of recreation at Bonclarken, a Presbyterian camp and conference center in nearby Flat Rock, N.C., where she hired, trained and supervised summer program staff as well as directed waterfront and high adventure programs. Bethany graduated from Erskine College with a degree in special education. She is active in the community as a Red Cross first-aid, CPR and lifeguarding instructor.

Christine Murawski
Adventure Programs Manager
Christine Murawski has served as Kanuga’s adventure programs manager since 2009, bringing an extensive background in high adventure activities such as rock climbing and high ropes. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, she is responsible for running Kanuga Trailblazers; coordinating backpacking expeditions for the Mountain Trail Outdoor School; training camp and outdoor education staff in high adventure activities; maintaining Kanuga’s rock climbing and ropes course sites and equipment; and serving as a senior instructor at MTOS.

David Schnitzer loves camp! He has 11 years of full-time professional camping and youth ministry experience but has worked at camp every summer since he was 15. Before coming to Kanuga in 2012, he was the program director for Camp Glisson in Dahlonega, Ga., where he created two leadership development programs for teenagers, grew the staff by more than 100 percent and organized training programs for more than 130 staff members. A graduate of the University of Georgia and the National Outdoor Leadership School, he is in the process of completing a master’s degree in Christian leadership from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. Eden Lewis
Acting Program Director
Eden Lewis has helped coordinate Kanuga-sponsored conferences and guest periods since 2009. A former counselor at Camp Kanuga, she spent several years coordinating and leading programs for high school and middle school students at churches in Winston-Salem, N.C., and St. Augustine, Fla. A graduate of Flager College, she has a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in youth ministry. She loves both the guest and staff communities at Kanuga and views her job as the ministry of hospitality.

Emily Boone grew up spending her summers at Camp Kanuga, where she nutured a love for the outdoors that she passed on to campers as a counselor and program director. After graduating from Davidson College, that passion brought her back to Kanuga in 2010, this time to the Mountain Trail Outdoor School where she continues to inspire young people by shaping the science, adventure and environmental education curriculum.

Camp Bob Program Director
Gary Woodhurst has worked at Camp Bob since 2008, beginning as a counselor and moving to head male counselor in 2009 before taking on the program director role in 2010. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he brings a passion for outdoor education and childhood development to his role at Camp Bob. He spent eight summers as a camper at Camp Kanuga and two summers as counselor at YMCA Camp Greenville in nearby Cedar Mountain, N.C.

Jane Vogelman

Jane Vogelman brought her passions for education and environmental sustainability to Kanuga's Mountain Trail Outdoor School in 2005, where she was instrumental in bringing the organic garden to fruition. She also serves as the resident yoga instructor and works on sustainability projects across campus. Previously, she worked for the Cottonwood Gulch Foundation, an organization dedicated to environmental stewardship and support of the New Mexico's indigenous people, took at-risk youth on trail expeditions and worked at a biodynamic and organic farm in Athens, Ga. “In the time that I have worked with Kanuga, I have truly seen a snowball effect with 'green' projects," she says. "It is an understatement to say that this gets me excited and energized to continue the movement towards a more sustainable Kanuga.”

LeeAnne Martin
Vice President of Youth Programs
LeeAnne Martin joined the Kanuga staff in 2001 as an instructor at the Mountain Trail Outdoor School. Since then, she has directed the outdoor school, Kanuga Trailblazers and various aspects of all of Kanuga's camping and outdoor education programs. An award-winning educator, she has served on the Southeast council for the Association for Experiential Education and continually works to strengthen Kanuga's youth programs.
