Staff
The Trailblazer Staff is carefully selected to make sure you have someone you can trust on the trail.
Staff members are selected carefully. We look for previous trail experience, knowledge of emergency medical procedures, good judgment, patience and strength of character. Staff also are chosen for the examples of a wholesome lifestyle they can set for the Trailblazer Adventurers and for their commitment to working productively with young people.
Previous staff members have had experience with Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), both considered excellent preparation for persons working with young people in outdoor programs.
An extensive orientation program, emphasizing the techniques for team building and assisting in personal development, is held for the staff before the first session begins. It includes several days backpacking along much of the trail.
There are four staff members — two males and two females — generally college graduates or rising seniors.
