Promotion!

It is my pleasure to announce (via Camp Blog) that Nicole Bentley, Camp Kanuga's registrar since 2006, has been promoted to Director of Client Development for Kanuga Conferences, Inc.
Nicole has been the voice of Camp Kanuga for many new and veteran parents and while we are not saying goodbye, I would like to lead the camp community in thanking her for her service to Camp Kanuga.
In her new role, Nicole will be working with new groups who will be using Kanuga as their meeting space. She is excited to be able to expose so many new people to Kanuga and will be working hard to ensure they have a positive experience.
Thank you Nicole!

What a great 2008 season!

"Happy that it happened, sad that it is over..."

I remember hearing that phrase a lot as a child growing up here at Camp Kanuga. We shared so many amazing times at CK in 2008. I always get choked up in thinking about the end of a camp season...in fact I cried during my closing speech during Session 5. As I talked to the campers about how they will be saying goodbye to their friends, I thought about how I would be saying goodbye to three of my good camp friends at the conclusion of this summer.

Tee Leitner, Emily Boone and Michaela Curtis have come to mean a lot to me over the last 5 years. I remember them well from 2003 when they were Junior Counselors. They recently graduated from college and now as they have just completed their service to camp, they will be moving on not knowing when they will be back. Hopefully soon! Hopefully often!

I am also sad to see this staff go. What an amazing group of people! We had our staff banquet last night where we announced that Katherine Sheetz and Richard Allred were voted as Outstanding Female and Male Counselors for the summer of 2008. Their work, as well as the work of the rest of the staff was unparalleled in my opinion. This was the best staff I have worked with in my eight years on staff.

But as we say goodbye, I get to reflect on the positive things that happened this summer. Sunday Shine rocked, Fran McKendree brought it too, Badhair told amazing stories (he even told his famous "Soap" story as a personal favor). We added a new environmental program area and welcomed 597 campers to experience what Camp Kanuga had to offer.

All in all......one of the best summers ever!

Update on Session 5

Well so far its been hot, hot, hot. This week has been averaging temperatures in the 90s, but that isn't getting us down.

Last night was a campout and the night before we had "Kanuga Adventure Night," which was like a giant video game come to life! See pictures below.
