Sewanee and Nashville Trip

Hey there!

I just spent about a week on the road visiting Sewanee University and attending a conference in Nashville, Tenn. I've said it before, but I really love Sewanee. If you didn't know, Sewanee is a very prominent Episcopal college and seminary. Many of Kanuga's former staff members have gone there and many current campers live in Sewanee. Camp Bob director David Griffin and I did the sermon at the students' Growing in Grace evening service and then met up with a lot of former Kanugans at a local restaurant. Very fun!

The next day, we did a recruiting fair and then hit the road traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for the American Camp Association national conference. I would guess that there were over a thousand other camp directors all meeting to discuss how to make summer camps better and encourage more campers to come to camp. One thing that is especially cool about camping conferences are the ideas that everyone shares with each other. Some of the things I heard that other camps are doing will likely make it to Camp Kanuga in the next year or so.

While at the conference, I also got to see some of Nashville...a very cool city. If you've never been, I can highly recommend it. While I am not a big country music fanatic, I definitely got into it while I was there.

Talk to you soon,
Brad

Steady Progress on Health Lodge

Here is a recent photo of the health lodge construction. As of late the builders have been getting a lot done. Since this photo was taken, they have added the trusses and the roof is now done!

Very exciting!

Only 33 more spaces to fill at camp. Get them now...they are going fast!
