Parents
Camp Bob is a lot of fun!
Campers attend Camp Bob as a group and are selected for camp by sponsoring organizations. To contact a sponsor in your area, please click here.
For each camper, please complete the Registration/Health Form PDF - Get Acrobat and return it to your sponsoring organization to register your child for camp. This form asks you to fill in necessary information including contact information, health history, an acknowledgement of risk and income eligibility. This form must be returned to your sponsoring organization before your child's camp session. Please list any special needs or issues that could help us serve your child better during their camp experience.
Drop Off/ Pick Up Times and Transportation
Each sponsoring organization arranges the drop off and pick up location and times for campers in their area. In addition, they arrange for vans or charter buses to transport the campers to and from their community. If you have any questions about drop off/pick up times, transportation or dates of camp, please contact your local sponsoring organization.
Safety
Safety is our utmost priority at all times. Our counselor team is well trained in all activity areas and in camper health and hygiene. We do several in-service trainings during the summer to keep our skills polished, and our counselors are carefully supervised to ensure they are providing adequate care for each camper.
Health Care
Should health care be needed, we have a well equipped infirmary with a nurse in residence. Medical care is available by our nurse 24 hours a day, and our camp physicians are located only a few minutes away in nearby Hendersonville. For emergencies or late hours, Pardee Hospital is located only 15 minutes away and provides excellent health care. Kanuga Conferences covers all campers under their insurance policy during their stay.
On the first day of camp, our nurse completes a general health screening and orientation for all campers. The nurse or an administrative team member will contact you as soon as possible when a camper's illness or injury necessitates a visit to the camp physician, any emergency services or a prolonged stay in the infirmary. Parents will not be contacted for minor, routine injuries or minor physical complaints.
Medical Information
Camp Bob requires all campers to have a current and completed Registration/Health Form when they arrive at camp. We will not allow any camper to remain at camp without a complete form. In addition, please send any medication that the camper might be taking in its original container with the child's name and dosage information on it. We will not be able to distribute prescription medications to a camper unless it comes to camp in the original container. Please give these to the sponsoring organization before your child leaves for camp.
Emergency Contact Information
If you need to reach your child due to an emergency while he or she is at camp, call the Kanuga operator at our 24-hour number, (828) 692-9136, and tell the receptionist that your child is attending Camp Bob. Leave your name, the camper's name and a phone number where we can reach you. We will return your call as soon as possible.
Expected Camp Behavior
We expect campers to cooperate with and follow camp rules and standards of behavior. Inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to hitting, biting, inappropriate language, bullying or creating an unsafe environment, may result in appropriate discipline or dismissal from camp. All campers as well as staff are expected to be respectful and kind to others.
Phone Calls
Use of the telephone by campers is discouraged. Please do not tell campers that they will be able to call home from camp. Special arrangements will be made in the case of emergencies.
Money
Campers will not need money while they are at camp. Everything is provided for them. Please do not send any money with the camper unless the sponsoring organization suggests sending food money for the trip to and from camp.

Homesickness
Almost all campers experience some feelings of homesickness away from home. Our counselors work hard at keeping campers busy with fun activities to avoid homesickness. You can help prepare your child for camp by:
- talking to your child about camp and what it will be like.
- sending a favorite stuffed animal, picture or blanket with them from home.
- reminding your child that you have confidence that they will have fun and make friends away from home.
- asking him/her to write you a letter while they are at camp (stick some preaddressed stamped envelopes in his/her bag).
- not telling your child in advance that a parent or guardian will "rescue" him or her from camp if he or she does not like it.
- not promising the camper that he/she can talk to a parent or guardian by phone at camp.
