Accounting Associate
The accounting department is responsible for recording and reporting the financial activities of each of Kanuga’s three corporate entities. The accounting associate is responsible for the implementation of daily/monthly/yearly action items that are the result of long-term and short-term strategies laid out by the controller, the vice president of finance and the president of Kanuga Conferences. The accounting associate reports directly to the controller and the vice president of finance. In addition, the accounting associate has relationships with other Kanuga department heads and their assistants in regards to functions relating to accounting matters. The associate receives guidance from the controller.
Responsibilities Include
- Maintain vendors and manage all phases of the accounts payable process
- Perform cash-related tasks such as keying deposits to G/L and managing petty cash
- Take responsibility for administering payroll and all related duties
- Provide support to the controller and the vice president of finance
- Work well with other staff members, demonstrating patience, teamwork and enthusiasm
- Perform other accounting tasks as needed
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be an honest, dependable, detail-oriented team player with a passion for excellence and demonstrated success in timely and accurate recording of financial activities and data management. S/he should have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with other staff; prioritize and use good time management; communicate effectively in writing and in person; maintain confidentiality; and influence others. This person must be experienced in an accounting environment and have a demonstrated understanding of basic accounting principles, accounts payable, payroll and computer software including Microsoft Office.
